LAHORE: The appointment of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as duputy prime minister of Pakistan was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC), DawnNews reported.

The petitioner, Advocate Tariq Aziz, filed a writ in the LHC.

Aziz was of the view that appointment of Elahi as a deputy prime minister of the country was a step to reward a coalition ally and it had not provision in the constitution.

He said that this special appointment was a clear violation to the article 91 of the constitution.

Moreover he pleaded that “this appointment was ill-intended and should be declared void.”
