Pakistan Television Corporation is an independent public sector organisation founded in November 1964.  PTV broadcasts its transmissions nationally as well as internationally. It produces dramas, documentaries, programs on current affairs, entertainment and sport.

Its programs are produced in Urdu as well as in all regional languages i e Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto and Balochi.

Pakistan Television’s first broadcast was a black and white transmission and it was through a small pilot TV Station established at Lahore.

A Board of Directors appointed by the Government of Pakistan manages PTV’s affairs. The Managing Director of the corporation is appointed by the Government of Pakistan and he is the authority to implement rules for the corporation and its employees.
