RAWALPINDI, June 27: Two women were murdered in separate incidents in the city on Wednesday, police said.

The first incident took place in the outskirts of Rawat where N.S., 38, was shot dead while her father and two brothers were injured by some unidentified persons who forced their way into their house.

I.A., the injured brother of the woman, said in his statement that his sister woke up on hearing some noise in the early hours of Wednesday.

When she peeped outside the main door of the house, she found four persons standing there who pushed their way into the house. He said on hearing his sister’s screams, her father A. H. and brother, W.A., rushed to her rescue.

He said his sister was shot dead by one of the intruders armed with a pistol. His remaining accomplices were carrying daggers.

Quoting I.A., the police said he, his father and brother were injured after being stabbed by the armed men who also had scuffled with them.

Sub-Inspector Liaquat Ali, who is leading investigation into the murder, ruled out possibility of robbery attempt as nothing was taken away by the murderers. However he said the motive behind the murder could be old enmity.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the deceased woman had been married to R.M. some 13 years ago but after one year of her marriage, she returned to her parents’ house where she delivered a son.

The brother of the woman told police that he could identify the attackers if arrested and produced before him.

In another incident, a woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Bahar Shah Colony Saddar Bairooni area on Wednesday.

Ms S. was found murdered in her house after her parents arrived there at night. Quoting M.A., father of the woman, the police said his daughter was married to D.M. some five years ago.

The couple, who had a two-and-a-half-year-old son, had been embroiled in domestic issues for the last couple of months.

Police said since her murder, the woman’s husband and son were missing from the house. The incident came to light after the woman’s parents came to her house to inquire about her.

Later the police were called to the crime scene who shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital.

According to preliminary investigation, the woman’s throat had been slit with a knife sometime during Tuesday night.
