LAHORE, June 30: Former federal minister from Sindh Ali Nawaz Mehr called on PML-N President Nawaz Sharif here on Saturday and discussed with him the current political situation.

Mr Sharif had earlier visited the Mehrs of Ghotki during his Sindh visit. It was expected that the influential political family of the district would join the party but there is no formal announcement so far in this regard as the Mehrs have been quoted as claiming that the powers that matter the most in the country are barring them from doing so.

An SMS message issued by the party after the meeting quoted Mr Sharif as telling the visitor that federal government’s “corruption” and “wrong” policies have damaged the national economy and troubled the masses much.

He said the PML-N had a team of professionals and economic managers with the capacity and determination of steering the country out of the troubled waters.
