TAXILA, July 3: Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Chief Lt-Gen Mohammad Ahsan Mehmood has said that provision of a comfortable and reliable transport system to the residents of Wah Cantonment is among the priorities of the city mangers and measures are being taken for the purpose.

He was speaking at a function held here on Tuesday in which 16 new vehicles were added to the POF Welfare Transport service. Senior POF officers and office bearers of social and welfare organisations were also present on the occasion.

He said that substantial funds had been allocated in the budget for providing modern transport facilities to the citizens. On this occasion, in recognition of the laudable performance of its Welfare Trust employees, POF chief announced to enhance their salaries by 20 to 30 per cent.

Earlier, in his welcoming remarks, Director POF Welfare Trust Brig (retired) Taqdees Ahmad claimed that total assets of POF Welfare Trust were Rs484 million in June 2010 and the same stood at about  Rs500 million.—Correspondent
