Rs12m approved for bridge
PESHAWAR, July 4: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has approved the provision of Rs12.831 million out of Special Package 2012-13 for construction of overhead pedestrian bridge near Tablighi Markaz at Jhandai, District Mardan.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, the bridge will facilitate people in crossing the busy road with ease. The chief minister issued directives to the concerned departments in this connection.
Meanwhile, MPAs Sardar Ali, Sajadullah and Adnan Wazir called on the chief minister separately and discussed with him matters relating to progress on the ongoing schemes and activities in their respective constituencies. —Bureau Report
Clinic sealed
MANSEHRA, July 4: The health department sealed a clinic here on Wednesday and recovered illegal Indian and Chinese medicines.
A team of health department headed by inspector Tausif Tanoli raided a clinic at Abbottabad Road and recovered a large quantity of unauthorised Indian and Chinese medicines.
Mr Tanoli told reporters that the health department had initiated a campaign against quacks and fake medicines and recovered a large quantity of medicines which were dangerous for human consumption.
Meanwhile, former MNA Nawabzada Salaudeen told mediamen here on Wednesday that Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti was due in Shergar area of Oghi on July 11 to declare Tanawal another district of Hazara. —Correspondent
Cheques distributed
TIMERGARA, July 4: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) on Wednesday distributed cheques worth Rs2 million among the flood-affected people of Lower Dir at a function held at Akhagram.
Smeda had launched ‘early recovery project’ in Lower Dir to reinvigorate and stimulate the flood-affected businesses and livelihood activities in the area.
Addressing the ceremony, project district coordinator Ms Noor Zeba said that the project was launched in September, 2011 and was aimed at reviving business activities in flood-hit areas.
Meanwhile, the lawyers of Adenzai, Lower Dir, on Wednesday called off their strike after police authorities transferred the station house officer of Chakdara police station. The Chakdara bar had been boycotting courts since May 31 demanding immediate transfer of the SHO. —Correspondent
Salary of employees withheld
PESHAWAR, July 4: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Culture and Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, has taken strong exception to the prolonged absence of employees of culture department and ordered that their salaries should be withheld.
The minister gave these directives while presiding over a meeting of culture department at Nishtar Hall here on Wednesday.
Secretary information, director culture and concerned officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
A handout issued by the department said that the minister also directed the department to take stern disciplinary action against the absent officials. —Bureau Report
