WASHINGTON, July 5: Thousands of American physicians of Pakistani origin will observe a day of solidarity with young Pakistani doctors on Friday, urging the government to accept their demands.

The physicians, who are attending the 35th annual meeting of their organisation called APPNA in Washington, will wear black armbands and march on the streets in support of young Pakistani doctors.

On Thursday, APPNA adopted a resolution, saying that “the current strike in Pakistan and its handling by authorities is alarming to us”.

They urged the Pakistani government to “resort to serious redress of the issues of health service structure and other demands of young doctors”.
