House looted

ATTOCK, July 9:  Six armed robbers looted jewelry, cash and others valuables from the house of a bank official in Attock city police area on Monday.

Police sources said the robbers entered the house of Mohammad Saleem after scaling the boundary wall at 11am and made the all the inmates including women hostage at gunpoint. Later, they escaped with gold jewelry weighing 50 tola, Rs300,000 in cash and other valuables. — Correspondent

Motorcycle stolen

ATTOCK, July 9:  Some auto thieves lifted a motorcycle from outside the GPO, a few yards away from the Attock city police station.

The matter was reported to the police but they could not find any clue of the motorcycle.

Attock and its surrounding areas has been in the grip of street crimes for quite some time. — Correspondent

SHOs reshuffled

ATTOCK, July 9:  The district police officer Mohammad Hilal Khan has transferred Attock city police SHO Inspector Tahir Abbass to Basal police station in place of Inspector Mohammad Khan, who has replaced him at the city police station.

Moreover, Inspectors Mohammad Rafique and Basharat Abbassi were also posted as judicial guard of district police lines. — Correspondent

Case registered

ATTOCK, July 9: The Saddar police here registered a case against the four gangsters who got released an accused car lifter by killing a policeman and a taxi driver here on Sunday.

The case was registered on the report of the injured SI, Jameel Ahmed, of Rawalpindi city police.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer Mohammad Hilal Khan has formed an investigation team under the supervision of subdivisional police officer DSP Abdul Hafeez Ohluck to arrest all the accused persons.

The armed bike riders got the alleged car lifter Amjad Khan, a resident of Peshawar, released from police custody when he was being taken to Attock jail from Rawalpindi. — Correspondent

Police told to book ex-MPA

MURREE, July 9: Chairman Pakistan Press Council Raja Shafqat Abbasi allegedly beat up an employee of the Town Municipal Administration (TMA) and a traffic warden when they tried to stop his vehicle from entering the Mall Road.

It may be noted that only fire brigade, ambulances and vehicles of VVIPs are allowed to enter the Mall. This was stated in a press release issued by Assistant Commissioner Murree Tariq Manzoor Chandio on Monday.

On the complaint of the TMA grade-four employee and the traffic warden, the assistant commissioner directed the police to register a case against Mr Abbasi, who is also a former MPA, and his staff for insulting the civil servant, violation of the law and use of offensive language against them.

Mr Abbasi along with some of his staffers and political supporters tried to enter the Mall but was stopped by the TMA staffer and the traffic warden.

However, they allegedly beat the TMA staffer and entered the Mall by force.

Despite repeated attempts, Mr Abbasi could not be contacted for comments. — Correspondent

Rain forecast

ISLAMABAD, July 9: Met Office on Monday forecast scattered rain and dust-thunderstorm in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad during next 24 hours.

The same weather is also forecast for Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal Divisions, Khyber Pakhtunkwa and Kashmir.

However, isolated rain/dust thunderstorm is expected in Sindh coast, Northeast Balochistan, Makran Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Met Office in its daily report said seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan and adjoining areas extending to southeast. Monsoon currents are also penetrating into upper parts of the country.

Chief amount of rainfall during last 24 hours was Rawalakot 31 mm, Muzaffarabad 26 mm, Balakot and Abbottabad 9 mm, Okara 8 mm, Chakwal 7 mm, Garidupatta 5 mm and Sargodha 4 mm.

Maximum temperature recorded on Monday was 45 C at Dalbandin and Dadu while in Sibbi it was 43 C.

The maximum temperature of other cities on Monday was Islamabad 37 C, Lahore 40 C, Karachi 34 C, Peshawar 40 C, Quetta 37 C, Muzaffarabad 36 C, Gilgit 35 C, Murree 23 C, Multan 41 C and Faisalabad 37 C. — APP
