KARACHI, July 10: A sessions court directed on Tuesday the Sindh home department to produce an undertrial prisoner in court on July 28.

Atta-ur-Rehman, Shahzad Bajwa, Khalid and Syed Adnan have been charged with killing a driver within the remit of the Aziz Bhatti police station in 2004. Of the four men, accused Adnan was not produced in court since long and on a pervious hearing the court issued strict directives to jail authorities about the production of the UTP.

However, the jail officials informed the court on Tuesday that the UTP in question was confined in the Hyderabad prison and he could only be produced in court with the permission of the home department.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (south) Javed Ahmed Keerio, who is conducting the trial in judicial complex (central prison), directed the home department to make necessary arrangements for the UTP’s production in court on July 28.

A case (FIR 137/04) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the father of the victim driver, Manzoor Masih.

Two testify in murder case The same court recorded on Tuesday the evidence of two prosecution witnesses in a murder case, but they remained unable to identify the accused.

Kamran Khan alias Madhuri has been charged with killing Amir within the remit of the Awami Colony police station in January 2010.

The two prosecution witnesses — complainant Nafees Haider and eyewitness Rashid — recorded their statements. However, they neither identified nor deposed against the accused.

The complainant said that the deceased was his nephew and he lodged the case against unknown accused while Kamran was booked in the case on the basis of a statement of co-accused Sultan Kapal.

The eyewitness testified that he had not seen the present accused while committing the offence.

The court adjourned the hearing till Aug 2 for statements of the remaining witnesses.

A case (FIR 21/10) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the PPC.
