GILGIT, July 10: The 55th Imamate anniversary of Prince Karim Aga Khan, spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims, will be celebrated today (Wednesday) throughout Gilgit-Baltistan.

Elaborated measures have been made to celebrate the anniversary in a befitting manner.

Various programmes have been chalked out to give the anniversary a special colour as the region’s mountains would be illuminated and special religious gatherings would be held.

In Hunza and areas where the community is settled colorful events would also take place.

The government of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced a local holiday in connection with the day.

RESOLUTION PASSED: The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly on Tuesday approved with overwhelming majority a resolution in which it congratulated newly elected Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Opposition leader Janbaz Khan opposed the resolution and said his party cannot support such illogical resolutions. The resolution was presented by member Wazir Hassan. The resolution hoped that the new prime minister would contribute towards development of the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
