QUETTA, July 10: Habibullah Kakar, principal of the Jamia Salfia seminary, was kidnapped here on Tuesday.

The incident sparked protests and hundreds of students of the seminary walked out of their classes and blocked the Quetta-Chaman highway.

They shouted slogans against the government and demanded immediate recovery of their principal.

Traffic between Quetta and Chaman and other areas remained suspended for some time and people going to the airport faced difficulty.

According to witnesses, Mr Kakar was going to the seminary when five gunmen who were in a car picked him up from Airport Road.

In Kuzdar town, a shopkeeper, Nasrullah, was kidnapped when he was going to his shop on Tuesday.
