KARACHI, July 12: Police arrested on Thursday several suspects belonging to proscribed organisations for their alleged involvement in a bomb attack on a Suparco staff bus in the city on Wednesday.

A man was killed and 24 others were injured in the remote-controlled bomb blast.

According to sources, the suspects were picked up during police raids in Baldia, Moach Goth and Hub areas and they were being interrogated.

An FIR was registered at the Saeedabad police station against unidentified attackers on a complaint lodged by the transport officer of Suparco.

Meanwhile, a report by the bomb disposal unit said RDX was used in the bomb and the explosive material was stuffed in a casing of a car battery which was placed on a cycle carrier.

In October 2003, seven people going to offer Friday prayers died when terrorists opened fire on a Suparco staff bus.
