GHALANAI, July 13: Tribesmen, heads of peace committees and volunteers during a jirga here have assured their cooperation to security forces and administration against militants in their respective areas.

Before the jirga, the volunteers and elders held an armed march to show solidarity with the security forces and political administration. APA Ghalanai Rasool Khan Wazir led the marchers, who chanted slogans such as ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Pakistan Army Zindabad’.

On the occasion, elders of Shinwari tribe announced to join hands with peace committees to check entry of militants into their areas.  They assured the administration that they would support the forces in restoration of peace in the area.

Speaking at the jirga, political agent Adil Siddiq said that law and order situation was now satisfactory due to sacrifices offered by security forces and tribesmen. He said that Mohmand Agency had been cleared of militants and development projects would soon be initiated in the region.—Correspondent
