ATTOCK, July 14:  Five police constables were dismissed, seven demoted and three others were suspended for misconduct and dereliction of duty.

A spokesman said constables Rafique Maqsood, Nazakat, Fawad Hanif, Yasir Mehmood and Ghulam Ali Asghar were sent home on remaining absent despite frequent reminders and notices. The in-charge of the district police headquarters guards, head constable Nawab Khan, was demoted to the lower rank of constable and his two subordinates were suspended for remaining absent from duty during a surprise checking by DPO Hilal Khan on Friday night.

The in-charge of police post Dulian, Sub-Inspector Liaquat Ali was also suspended due to misconduct.—Correspondent
