ATHENS, July 14: Greek javelin champion Gervasios Filippidis has been suspended after a failing a drugs test, the country’s athletics federation (SEGAS) announced on Friday.
Filippidis had qualified for the Olympics, but an anti-doping check by Greek authorities at a training session revealed that he had used banned substances.
He appeared in last month’s European championships in Helsinki.—AFP
