SARGODHA, July 14: A man was shot dead allegedly by his son over a land dispute near Bhera on Saturday.

Sher Muhammad Arain, 60, of Divispur, wanted to divide his agricultural land between two sons. But his elder son, Arshad, wanted his father to transfer the land in his name.

On Saturday, Arshad shot dead his father when he was irrigating his fields and escaped. In another incident which took place in Chak 104-SB, Safdar Ali gunned down his sister, Bismillah, and injured his brother, Mubarak, and mother Jamila over a property dispute.

Mubarak and Jamila were taken to hospital in a precarious condition. Sadar police have registered a case.

BEEF SEIZED: Shahpur Sadar police seized 400kg rotten beef from a car near Jalpana Chowk here on Saturday. A police team, led by Sub-Inspector Nasir Ali, checked a car coming from Sahiwal near Jalpana Chowk. During search, the police recovered rotten meat concealed in different parts of the vehicle and arrested Mudassar Riaz and Abdul Latif.

During interrogation, they confessed that they used to collect rotten meat from different areas of Sargodha district and sold it in Rawalpindi district.

adjourned: Aslam Midhyana on Saturday appeared before judicial magistrate Tariq Ayub who adjourned until July 18 a teacher’s torture case as the prosecution witnesses did not turn up.

Elderly teacher Nafees Lodhi’s legs were fractured allegedly by PPP (former) MPA Aslam Midhyana and his accomplices.

Midhyana was arrested on March 14 when his bail before arrest petition was cancelled by a division bench of the Lahore High Court.
