HYDERABAD, July 15: Jeay Sindh Mahaz-J chairman Abdul Khaliq Junejo said on Sunday that unending excesses suffered by Sindhi people had forced them to demand right to self-determination.

Addressing participants of a procession taken out from Nasim Nagar, Mr Junejo said Sindhis had raised the demand because they had got only hunger, poverty and joblessness after having lived in Pakistan for over 65 years.

Sindh, he said, had joined Pakistan on condition that it would remain as an independent entity. It was time now to reconstitute the state of Pakistan, he stressed.

He said people were talking about dividing Sindh and rulers appeared to have taken it lightly. “Rulers say such things often happen (aisa hota rahta hay),” he said.

He criticised the PPP leadership for aligning with people who were talking about dividing Sindh. “Those who divided India think they can divide Sindh but they should keep in mind India had not been home to different nations and it was different. But Sindh has a rich history and its new generation is ready to fight for the integrity of their motherland.

Senior vice-chairman of JSM Dr Barkat Jatoi said that Banglis got a separate homeland out of Pakistan to protect their resources and language.

Awami Party’s Taj Mari called for a new social contract and said people of Sindh would not agree to anything short of national right to self-determination.
