KARACHI, July 16: The buying spree continued on Monday as spinners remained in the forefront striving to replenish their stocks at current rates.

As more ginneries have resumed operations in Punjab and Sindh on increased phutti arrivals spinners were after quality lots as supplies from the new crop smoothened.

However, prices remained steady amid reports that current crop size could well be on target because of recent rains in cotton growing belts in Punjab and Sindh where water irrigation shortage was recorded at 20 per cent.

The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) left the spot rates unchanged at the week-end level.

The following notable deals were reported to have changed hands on the ready counter on Monday evening: 400 bales, Shahdadpur at Rs6,200, 400 bales, Sanghar at Rs6,200 to Rs6,250, 1,200 bales, Burewala at Rs6,300 to Rs6,350, 400 bales, Chichawatni at Rs6,300, 600 bales, Haroonabad at Rs6,300 and 200 bales, Hasilpur at Rs6,350.
