Malik directs FIA to inquire ban on Shia website

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik on Wednesday directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take legal action against those who pasted objectionable material on Shia Website.
Issuing directions, he warned all such elements to remove objectionable material from the Web pages immediately.
He further directed Director General FIA to submit a report in this regard after talking necessary cognizance to such offence.
The website, www.shiakilling.com, monitors and maintains a “death count” of Pakistani Shia Muslims targeted in sectarian violence.
It was banned by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which operates on the directives of the Ministry of Information.
Upon attempting to access the website, users were met with a “Access denied” message, a usual occurrence for banned websites.
The Shia Action Committee on Tuesday protested on the alleged ban of the website.
The protestors, who were reportedly in hundreds chanted anti-government slogans . Police tried to stop them, which led to an altercation between both parties.
Another Shia website, pakshia.com, has also been reportedly banned by the PTA.
Government it self is responsible for the hundreds of shia's killing in pakistan.
That is an evidence of lack of true Islam in Pakistan. The moslems, what ever sect they belong are brothers not enemies. There should be no restrictions on the speaking of truth. It looks like every body else other than Sheas are just the PPP.
The website highlights the sectarian element of terrorism in Pakistan. If conditions were normal, you would argue that this is wrong.
BUT, it is easy to see that Shiites feel, you could argue rightly or wrongly, that they are being targeted by certain terrorist organizations, including Taliban, SSP and LeJ specifically for their sectarian identity.
Let's get out of this denial and honestly admit that their is some degree of truth in that. Yes, people in Pakistan are being targeted for various reasons. Non Baluchis settlers are being killed in Baluchistan. Karachi violence is targeting people for various ethnicity.
I did not think the site is promoting sectarian hatred, since the term "Sunni Terrorists" does not appear on the site, based upon my own albeit cursory review of the site.
On a personal level, I do know that Taliban, SSP and LeJ are terrorists and they certainly have shown proclivity to target Shiites over the years.
Let's get out of denial and accept the reality. Since only then we can move towards solving the problem. We should not act like politicians, who have a problem with admitting reality on the television for obvious reasons.

Just because one is born in a Muslim family, does not automatically makes you a good Muslim. One of the quality of a good Muslim is to treat all living things (including animals) humanely and with kindness.
Who has given us the authority to decide who is a true believer and who is a kafir; who is going to heaven and who is going to hell? Let us all learn to live and let live, in peace and harmony with others. Just remember, Allah is watching everything at all times.

The Government should protect all people of Pakistan Hindu, Wahabi or a Shia. It is a natural reaction from any community, in this case shia community who has been targeted mercilessly by terrorist. Website keeps good track of shia killings and shows some important facts, which ofcourse creates hue and cry against the culprits which shows ineptitute of the Government especially people who are at the helm of affairs e.g. Rehman Malik.
Every person has a right to speak the truth, which is unfortunately not allowed under this Govt. in Pakistan.

"It the job of government of punish those who are breaking the law", but that would mean they would have to arrest and indict each other. Some of them at the top are trying to dodge that bullet right now.
The government should ban ALL those web sites which incites religious or ethnic hatred. Pakistan has become a very polarized society. We are too busy hating each other rather than loving each other. There are quite a bit of fanatic Shias and Sunnis who are hell bent on insulting the other's feelings, no matter what. They forget that no one can declare the other KAFIR….it has huge implications. But in Pakistan, it has become a norm for so long now and there seems to be no end to it.
Instead of stopping death count, Why don't Govt moves Its machinery to stop killing.
Govt know very well who are they and who are their patrons. Banning site is a coward action. Govt should protect its people/the voters and not opressors & killers.
I am abroad and I have seen the content of this website. The website is instigating hatered and sectarianism. A good move by PTA. Those who are the admin of this website should be punished for creating disturbance and law and order situtaion. I think in Pakistan all religions are under attack, its not only Shias. Every day hundered of Muslims are killed by either Taliban or Shias, so do they need to create another website. I think its the job of government of punish those who are breaking the law.
Its does not spread hatred amoung muslims, i just speak against killers….every time when shias are killed in Quetta, Gilgit karachi and all over, lashker jhangvi take responsibility for the attack. They openly speak "Shia kafir" ……why dont you ban and raid the madarsa and mosque where they spread hatred amount muslims. The website just maintain and reported the death count and details about those brutally killed ..i visited the website many times and didnot found any thing against sunni brother ……its only stated about sipah-e-shahabas and those who openly say shias are kafir…..
I disagree with you….If the website was showing only the counting of shai killing in Pakistan then it was not a problem. But this website is also showing personal statements of the person who is posting all the stuff. Those statements are provoking shias against other sects and authorities. The problem of sectarianism is in our society, but being a responsible muslims we should criticize it rather than provoking people which will multiple the effect of sectarianism.
don't you find your own comments inherently full of Hate when you blame all "Shias" of being Killers, while on the other hand you absolve your own co-Sunnis by using the term "Taliban" for all the murderers in your Sect? Aren't the Taliban, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat etc etc a failure on the part of ALL Sunnis that they can't control so many hate-mongers amongst themselves or control their brothers/cousins from joining these organizations. What sloppy reporting. Pakshia and shiakilling are the same website. The latter directs to the former. Its full of sectarian insults and the reporting is tabloid like at best. Its working here, outside Pakistan
