ISLAMABAD, July 18: The opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has ruled out any ‘backdoor deal’ with the Pakistan People’s Party on a caretaker set-up.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said in a statement there would be absolutely no behind-the-scenes discussion with the government on the matter.

Rejecting PTI chief Imran Khan’s assertion that the PML-N and PPP were engaged in a backdoor deal over the caretaker set-up, Chaudhry Nisar said Imran Khan had made a similar statement during the appointment of the new CEC.

“Lest he has forgotten we not only consulted his party but also got his concurrence in the matter. He should have courage to accept the hollowness of his statements rather than coming up with more of the same,” he said.

Chaudhry Nisar said he would consult all opposition parties in and outside the parliament on the caretaker set-up like he had done on the issue of appointment of CEC.

“We are well aware of political sagacity and intelligence of Imran Khan and his ability and habit of backtracking on his public statements,” he said.

The PML-N leader said if a survey was conducted on U-turns and political somersaults, Imran Khan would surely be on top of the list. He said the PTI was a party without a manifesto and had no solution to people’s problems and described him as a ‘visionless leader’.

“It is astonishing to hear General Pasha’s political test-tube creation with only one National Assembly seat to show its existence over the past 17 years questioning the credentials of other mainstream and much more credible parties.”

Chaudhry Nisar said Imran Khan’s attitude and articulation reminded one of General Musharraf’s words, speeches and attitude towards political opponents.

The PTI, he said, was a party of political wanderers cobbled together by then ISI chief General Ahmad Shuja Pasha exactly in the manner the PML-Q had been created by General Mehmood of ISI.

He said Imran Khan had made it a habit to criticise his political opponents and indulge in conspiracy theories.
