KARACHI, July 18: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed reservations over errors in electoral rolls, saying that a majority of ministers and lawmakers has been complaining against non-registration of votes by Nadra and transfer of votes from one constituency to the other.

The chief minister said this while speaking to Interior Adviser to the PM Rehman Malik, who called on him at the CM House on Wednesday.

The chief minister was given an assurance by the adviser that the matter would be taken up with Nadra.

The interior adviser expressed the hop that the issue would be solved soon. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest and political and law and order situation in the province.

The chief minister said that the provincial government had initiated effective measures, including a severe action against criminals and extortionists, to improve law and order situation in the province.

Security to foreign teams

Meanwhile, speaking to a delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO), the chief minister assured them that a complete security would be provided to WHO teams engaged in polio vaccination campaign in the province, according to APP.

The chief minister also expressed his deep sorrows over the incident of firing at a WHO vehicle near Sohrab Goth on Tuesday.

A 4-member delegation of WHO led by the country representative of WHO called on the chief minister at the CM House.

Member National Task Force for Polio Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, principal secretary (acting) to the CM Mohammed Siddique Memon and others were also present.

Welcoming the WHO delegation, the chief minister informed them about measures taken for eradication of polio in the province.

He said that all executing agencies involved in polio eradication efforts, supervising departments and implementing and monitoring teams had been directed to achieve polio eradication targets while no carelessness or negligence would be tolerated.

He said that the government had already warned the officials that if any polio case was detected in an area, the persons concerned would be taken to task.

He assured the WHO team that the targets fixed for administering of polio drops and eradication of polio from Sindh would be met.

The head of the WHO team and country representative of WHO, Gido, highlighted the efforts and results achieved in the province.

The WHO team is comprised of polio medical officer, Pakistan, Dr Elyas Duray and Sindh PMO Dr Sallah.
