Dear Amit - I am a staunch Hindu because in my mind it is broad enough not to have to care about religion but only spiritualism. Nothing wrong with Monotheism. If you know Hinduism well, Monotheism is an integral part of our religion in the interpretations of the Bhagvad Gita by Sankaracharya. There have been discourses and debates on Monotheism for a very long time. Indeed, even the Zvend Avesta makes reference to it though in a different manner. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all speak about Montheism. So do Hinduism and Buddhism. In more recent history, Immanuel Kant, Karl Krause, Gottfried Leibnitz have expounded on it. For Hegel Islam was the purest form of monotheism, though I do not accept his views.

The trouble begins when cultural appendages are misconstrued as religious dictates. Unfortunately for many people it is difficult to separate out the wheat from the chaff.

Monotheism in a pure format CANNOT obviously be different for any people. I am perfectly comfortable in my Hindu skin because it allows me to accept the teachings of other religions easily. I discard the cultural appendages that have gotten attached to religions when these religions originated, and find that no religion teaches "bad". The truth, however, is that as long as people fight on the basis of cultural appendages, there will always be conflicts in the name of religion.

So, Amit, you can start to believe that you are wrong. Just read their book and ours.

Sorry, Amit. That has NOT been my experience is the USA. I have had wonderful relationships with the Pakistanis in both UK and in the USA where I have lived. They have been as friendly or as un-friendly as other Indians I have met with in both these countries.

My friends
Why don’t we just except & respect each other? Why because of the few evil mind people let you believe that reset of the world is the same. Be smart look listen & then make a smart decision. All people are not alike, just like your five-finger on your hand.
Not all Muslim are bad just like not all Hindus are bad. Just because you meet someone on the road did not smile at you because he may have bad hair day that day that doesn’t mean rest of his kind or he him self may not be bad. Gave a chance to piece & try to learn about each other before making a hate full decision for the rest of world.

As for the attacks that happened in India & Pakistan, its both the countries, we are so weak & easy to sell our self & cheap. All you have to do is look at our history we had traders from the beginning, what so different now. We are the cause of those attacks DON’T point fingers at each other.

Ahmad,

That's a very sensible surmise. I think the way both hindus ( Indian ) & muslims ( Pakistani ) conduct themselves in UK is commendable. Outside of the sub-continent we are both aliens in another culture and any cultural affinity with another group from the same region propels us to behave in interesting ways and evolve new areas of communicating and socializing with each other. I am from Australia and an indian-australian,, here too we have much of the same thing as you describe from the scene in UK among pakis & indians.

Let us at least understand that we share the same roots, without acknowledging this fact can there be any deep meaningful interaction. From our common roots are derived our language, cuisine, beliefs, music & social norms. It is not islam but the indic influence of the sub-continent that comes to the fore. Islam can later, you can change your religion by an accident of history.........but can you change the blood & DNA of your ancestors thats runs in your veins & is contained in you. Your inner core can never be changed by arabization or persianisation. You will remain indic in your appearance and eventually how you perceive your world will be influenced by your civilizational mileau.

Dear Friend Anand:

The phirangi Shaitans may have a verr LIMITED role in the India-Pak or any other divide. But, again we all know the TRUTH, and it's BITTER !

Indians and Pakistanis, or for that matter Hindus & Muslims have had a acrimonious relationship for centuries before any phirangi shaitan was seen anywhere on the horizon.

As long Muslims don't throw away their unabiding faith in MONOTHEISM (while condemning all other people as infidels) and also as long as Muslims DO NOT show allegiance to the countries they live in, and NOT to their Muslim Ummah, NOT ONLY will this India-Pak divide continue, but also the Hindu-Muslim, and Muslim-every other religion will continue.

As a matter of fact that's ONLY getting worse by the day, inspite of the work of some highly enlightened souls.... many of whom are Dawn's own contributors.

Again, I would like to believe I am wrong!
