TAXILA, July 19: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) foiled two different bids to smuggle two stolen cars from Islamabad to Peshawar and arrested a car lifter on Thursday.

NHMP spokesman Umar Shoaib told newsmen here at camp office Burhan that during patrolling on Islamabad-Peshawar motorway (M-1) police foiled a bid to smuggle  car (AFX- 994) to Peshawar and arrested a car lifter, later identified as Sher Mohammad, stated to be a member of an inter provincial gang of car lifters.

While in another incident a car (LEC- 3345) stolen from Islamabad was recovered near Burhan toll plaza on the Islamabad-Peshawar motorway. The car lifter managed to flee successfully, after taking advantage of distance between the chasing party and the accused. Later the seized vehicles were handed over to the local police for further legal action.
