SWABI, July 21: People in different parts of Swabi district complained of loadshedding during sehri hours of first Ramazan on Saturday.

They said the government had claimed to ensure smooth electric supply during sehri and iftar hours but failed to do so to their misery.

Mushtaq Khan, a resident of Marghuz region, said electric supply remained suspended to his area from 2:30am to 11:15am.

“If Ramazan begins this way, one could imagine how the rest of the fasting month would be. It’ll be difficult,” he said.

He said the area grid station officials attributed the problem to a major fault in power system.

“We prepared food for sehri in darkness. The Peshawar Electric Supply Company is to blame for our misery,” he said.

Yousaf Ali, another local, said there was no electricity throughout sehri hours in all far-flung areas of the district, including Gar, Dodher, Yousafi, Tandkohi, Sherabad and Kalabat, while electricity suspension was seen in other parts of the day.

“We don’t know what to do,” he said.

People urged the government to ensure smooth electric supply during sehri and iftar hours.

When contacted, the Pesco staff said electricity was suspended due to a technical fault in grid station.
