Sharif urges US to pursue policy of mutual respect

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday called upon the United States to pursue a policy of mutual respect and mutual trust with Pakistan, as only such a policy can restore cooperation between them and thereby serve the cause of peace and stability in the region.
He made this remark during a farewell call on him by the outgoing US Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter .
The meeting was also attended by Dr Marilyn Wyatt, wife of the US Ambassador and Opposition Leader in Senate Ishaq Dar.
The PML-N chief emphasized the need for the US to re-orient its policies towards Pakistan in a manner that the country’s democratic institutions become stronger and its economy made less dependent on foreign aid.
The US Ambassador spoke of his admiration for the people of Pakistan adding that he was deeply impressed by the enormous changes taking place which made him confident that the country was headed in the right direction.
