RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military officials on Sunday rejected the Afghan official's allegation that Pakistani troops fired 400 rockets across border in Afghanistan, terming it as 'misleading', DawnNews reported.
According to a military official here on Sunday, Pakistan’s troops pursue and target only those militants and areas from where they are attacked/fired upon.
Though Kabul had not directly accused the Pakistani military of being responsible, provincial spokesman of Kunar Wasifullah Wasifi told AFP that more than 300 heavy artillery shells and rockets were fired from Pakistan into Dangam district of eastern Kunar province on Friday and Saturday, killing at least four people.
Afghan officials had also added that both Afghan and Pakistani Taliban militants were operating in the Pak-Afghan border area.
Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin on Sunday summoned Pakistan’s ambassador in Kabul to discuss the latest barrage of periodic shelling across the Durand Line, a foreign ministry statement said.
It may also be mentioned that during last one year almost 15 cross border attacks have been carried out from across the border by militants on Pakistani check posts and civil population in Dir and Chitral in which over 100 civilian and security forces personnel have embraced martyrdom.
