ATTOCK, July 24: Public protests against long hours of loadshedding even in Ramazan continued, as hundreds of people  staged a demonstration in Pindigheb, causing suspension of traffic at Pindigheb-Kohat road. People from different localities of Pindigheb, frustrated by the loadshedding, gathered at  Chandani Chowk  to stage a protest demonstration.

Despite all the tall claims of the government to avoid unannounced loadshedding in Ramazan, power outages have exceeded 18 hours, in some localities.

The angry protestors burnt tyres and were also chanting slogans against the government on failing to control loadshedding, even in Ramazan.

They have condemned the government for long hours of loadshedding and breakdowns in Ramazan as electricity is available only three to four hours, in the entire span of the day.

They were expecting that loadshedding duration would be avoided or reduced ahead of summer and Ramazan, but unfortunately, there was no relief for consumers from power outages.  People claim that power crises is worst this year as loadshedding frequency has been increased considerably and now citizens are being provided electricity only for a few hours and that too in short spells.

The prevailing situation paralysed civic life and business activities. Later on, protestors were dispersed peacefully after assurance from officials of local administration about their grievances.

Low voltage: Meanwhile the residents of different localities of Attock city have also complained of low voltage, which not only causes problems in refrigerators, water pumps and computers but can also damage home appliances.

Ex-minister condemns loadshedding: Former state minister, and member of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Malik Amin Aslam has strongly condemned the government on power outages in Ramazan, which make it difficult for people to fast.

He blasted the rulers as people are being victimised and humiliated under one pretext or the other and warned that the day of reckoning is near.

Soon the government will also face the wrath of the same masses due to their polices.

He alleged that rulers are busy pursuing their own interests without realising the seriousness of the situation.

The present government has failed to control the power crises and to redress the problem of the masses, causing a sense of frustration and deprivation among the people, he observed. He asked the government to immediately end loadshedding.
