Government has revived constitution in its true spirit: Kaira

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Thursday said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government has distributed resources to the provinces, controlled terrorism and revived the constitution in its true spirit.
He said the PPP-led coalition government was following the constitution in the larger national interest.
He said that there is a need for dialogue with all the stakeholders or political parties before conducting the general elections, in the larger interest of the country.
The information minister said the parliament is a major forum where dialogue and debate is to be conducted for national matters.
He said that the parliament had done a lot of work in terms of legislation and will continue holding debates on different national affairs.
Replying to a question regarding Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) call for All Parties Conference, he said that there is no harm to invite all the parties for consensus or dialogue and debate on national issues.
Giving example of the previous parliamentary committees for resolving issues, he said that a positive outcome had been achieved through conferences and committees.
To a question he said the parliament receives the proposals, suggestions or recommendations and the government implement the decisions after consensus or dialogue.
