QUETTA, July 25: Kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Rs8 million from the family of Dr Din Muhammad Bangulzai, a surgeon affiliated with Bolan Medical College, who was kidnapped on Sunday.

Dr Bangulzai was coming to Quetta from Mastung when his car was intercepted at Luckpass Cross by armed men who took him away, leaving his car behind.

Family sources said the kidnappers had contacted them and initially asked for Rs50 million. However, later they reduced the amount to Rs8 million.

“They are asking us to bring the money to Jacobabad for Dr Din Muhammad’s release,” a close relative of the kidnapped doctor said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, officials of the Levies Force and police said they were making all out efforts to trace out the whereabouts of the doctor.

A token strike by doctors in Quetta and other parts of the province has been continuing against Dr Bangulzai’s abduction. The doctors are not attending the out-patient departments, leaving the visitors in distress.

Meanwhile, unidentified armed men kidnapped a 15-year-old boy from Satellite Town on Wednesday.

Police said the gunmen riding a 2.D car came to Farooqia Mosque and abducted Hafiz Mehmood.

Police have registered a case and started efforts to trace the kidnappers.
