LANDI KOTAL, July 25: Militants killed a pro-government tribal elder on charges of spying in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.

Sources said that armed men abducted Arbab Khan of Kamarkhel tribe on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday from his home. His bullet-riddled body was found at a deserted place near his house on Wednesday. Sources said that a written chit left along the body said that those spying for the government would meet the same fate. They said that militants had also slit the throat of 70-year-old Arbab Khan before spraying his body with bullets.

Family sources said that elderly Arbab Khan had lost his eyesight as he was diabetic and had long abandoned visiting the offices of the political administration.

NATO CONTAINERS: The security forces on Wednesday sent back at least seven containers loaded with supplies for Nato forces from Takhta Bag checkpost.

Officials said that the action was taken after an armed attack on Nato containers in Jamrud on Tuesday. They said that security forces wanted to establish checkposts along Peshawar-Torkham Highway to thwart attacks on such vehicles. — Correspondent
