Two killed separately

ATTOCK, June 26: Two persons including a woman were killed while two others injured in separate incidents.

Police said on Tuesday that Lal Bahadur, the resident of Ghoramar village reported to Attock Sadder police that his wife Zareen Bibi went to Attock city for shopping on Monday but did not return.

Later, her body was found lying in a Nullah near Sallar village. Meanwhile, a bike rider killed and others seriously injured in collision of two motorcycles near Langar village on Kohat-Pindi Road of Jand police station.

As per reports, Munsibdar was on way when his bike collided with the other motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

As a result, Munsibdar died on the spot while Mohammad Zafar and Nadeem Ahmed sustained serious injuries. — Correspondent

PPP supports doctors’ strike

RAWALPINDI, June 26: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Rawalpindi chapter on Tuesday extended its support to the protesting doctors and asked the Punjabto meet their demands.

The doctors have been demanding raise in wages, residential facilities, teaching allowances and one scale up-gradation.

The local PPP leaders in a meeting said if the strike by doctors continued for another week or two, it would prove fatal for the patients.

“We demand the Punjabto immediately resolve the issues with doctors, otherwise the party workers would join the protest,” president PPP Amir Fida Paracha said while addressing the city chapter office-bearers here at his party office at Liaquat Bagh. — Our Reporter

Two held for acting police

ISLAMABAD, June 26: Two persons, including a former official of Rescue 1122, were arrested on Tuesday for moving in the city on a car with police revolving light and a green number plate, police said on Tuesday.

A police team deployed at a checkpoint on Murree Road intercepted a Toyota Corolla on suspicion after spotting a police revolving light on the vehicle’s roof. Later, a green number plate was also found installed at the rear side of the vehicle.

During interrogation, they failed to justify the use of the police light. Besides, one of them, who introduced him as an official of Rescue 1122, produced the official card, which was found expired.

During search of the car, the police team also recovered a pistol. Later they along with the car were shifted to Secretariat police station for further legal action. — Staff Reporter

Sikh festival concludes

TAXILA, June 26: Three-day religious rituals in connection with 173rd death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh concluded at Gurdwara Punja Sahib, Hassanabdal on Tuesday.

Over three hundred Sikhs from different parts of the world offered the religious rituals including Shabad Kirtan, Matha Tek and Ashnan at the Gurdwara. Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion to avoid any untoward situation. — Correspondent
