ATTOCK, July 26: A resident and an alleged robbers’ gang leader were killed and three other inmates of the house were seriously injured in a failed robbery bid here, police said on Thursday.

According to details, an alleged gang of five unknown armed robbers forcibly entered into the house of Arshad Mehmood at Muhallah Shebazgarh in limits of Hazro police station around Sehri.

However, the inmates put up resistance and managed to overpower one of the robbers. Being faced with the unexpected situation, the robbers opened fire at the inmates in a bid to rescue the leader.

As a result, four house inmates – Arshad Mehmood, his father Abdul Qayyum and two other relatives, Fiaz and Irshad – got seriously injured, while robbers’ leader also sustained bullet injuries. Being panicked over the bloodshed and having freed their fellow, the robbers preferred to flee from the scene. —Correspondent
