LAHORE, July 26: District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal took a serious notice on Thursday about the supply of substandard flour to various Ramazan bazaars and directed the CDGL’s food wing to seal flour mills which were involved in this malpractice.

He also directed the officials concerned to monitor commission agents in wholesale markets so as to bring down prices of fruits and vegetables considerably.

Presiding over a meeting held here to review the CDGL’s Ramazan operation, the DCO said the prices of fruits and vegetables could be brought down if the market committee officials monitored the bidding process of fruits/vegetables on a daily basis.

The DCO said officers concerned must pay heed to their work as they were responsible for the provision of quality fruits/vegetables and other commodities on low prices.

He also directed them to check cold storages regularly to eliminate hoardings and reduction in prices of essential items.

Mr Mengal said the officials should ensure availability of commodities in Ramazan bazaars on cheaper prices than the open market.

Meanwhile, the DCO paid a surprise visit to the Ramazan Bazaar in Raiwind and expressed his satisfaction over prices and quality of commodities there. He asked the officials to continue their efforts to control prices not only during Ramazan but also after it.

HELPLINE: The CDGL’s Zimadar Shehri helpline received 31 complaints relating to Ramazan bazaars on Thursday and solved 21 of them swiftly.

According to the helpline in charge, the action on the pending 10 complaints was not taken for being wrong and baseless.

He urged the people to lodge genuine complaints at the helpline.
