KARAK, July 27: Officials of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil administration raided a weekly bazaar at Ahmadabad and sent seven traders to jail for profiteering here on Friday.

Tehsildar Gul Ghazi Khan and tehsil municipal officer Ajmal Khan along with a police party visited Ahmadabad juma bazaar and checked prices and quality of daily-use commodities. They sent seven traders, including butchers, to jail for charging prices above those given in the official list.

They also warned the shopkeepers to display official price lists and charge accordingly.

Besides, they checked cleanliness of shops and warned shopkeepers against selling substandard fruit and vegetable.

The officials said on the occasion that special teams were being formed to check sale of substandard beverages being prepared in the district. They, however, said that control on artificial price hike was not possible without support of people.

GAS SUPPLY: The residents of Sabirabad have demanded of Provincial Minister for Prisons Mian Nisar Gul to provide eight-inch diameter gas pipeline in their area to ensure smooth supply of gas.

The demand was made during a meeting of a local organisation ‘Alkhidmat’ here in Sabirabad on Friday with Haleemullah in the chair. They said that the minister had laid eight-inch diameter pipeline to his home, but he was denying the same to the people of Sabirabad.

Mr Haleemullah said that they had talked to the engineer concerned of SNGPL, but he refused the request, saying that the same could be done with the approval of the provincial minister.
