ISLAMABAD, July 28: Two persons were murdered in different areas, and a man committed suicide here on Saturday, police said.
In the first incident, a man was gunned down by unknown assailants, who were lying in wait for him, in a rural area bordering the capital.
The victim — M.B., 38 — was on his way home, near Haji Camp, where some people all of a sudden started firing indiscriminately at him, when he came within range. As a result he fell on the road and the attackers escaped from the spot.
Later the police were informed, who reached the spot and shifted him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was a native of Manshera and settled in Haji camp, a few years back. While the victim’s family did not suspect anyone, the police had reasons to believe that old enmity might be the motive of the murder.
In another incident a man was found strangulated in a nullah, in I-10/2.
Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police, who reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital for pending identification and legal process. The police said that the body was decomposed and the incident seemed to have occurred a few days ago.
The killer(s) had strangulated the victim. The preliminary investigation suggested the killer(s) killed him somewhere else and brought the body to the nullah, in order to dump the body.
Meanwhile, a man committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol in Rawat.
The victim — M.K., 30, a painter by profession — shot himself and died on the spot. At the time of the incident, he was all alone and on hearing the gunshot, his other colleagues rushed towards him and found him dead.
Shortly after getting the information, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital, for legal process. The police also found the weapon, lying near the body and took it in their custody.
It is yet to be established, who owned the pistol and how the victim got it, police added. The victim was employed in a pipe manufacturing factory for the last seven years. He, along with other employees was residing in the factory’s premises. The factory’s owner told police that he was in distress for the last couple of weeks, due to some family problems, which he did not disclose. The victim’s family residing in Sialkot were informed, who were on their way to Islamabad.
