Anti-corruption court declares Malik Riaz as proclaimed offender

ISLAMABAD: An anti-corruption court of Rawalpindi on Monday declared former Bahria town Chief Malik Riaz as a ‘proclaimed offender’ in the land-fraud case. The court issued orders to the authorities to present Riaz and other defendants of the case before the court by Sep 3, DawnNews reported.

Justice Chaudhry Amir Muhammad Khan was hearing the land fraud case of 1600 kanals.

The judge declared Riaz, his son Ali Riaz and other accomplices as proclaimed offenders and ordered the authorities to present them in the court on Sep 3.

The court also summoned the property details of all the defendants of the case within a week.

Earlier on Tuesday, Riaz made another failed attempt to stop an anti-corruption court from proceeding against him in a land fraud case by filing two identical petitions in the Lahore High Court (LHC). However, the court rejected his pleas.

The court should have given a few days and Not weeks. This court has twice issued arrest warrents against this man. The judge should worry about his safety. Riaz goons can do any thing

I have feeling that Arsalan Chaudry is some shape of form is part of the corruption, along with Malik Riaz. There is no saint in this. I hope this drama is not to give clean chit to Arsalan and safe corrupt judges.

I have faith in Pakistani courts and perhaps they will give Malik Riaz some punishment as well. However, just like Rehman Malik who was pardoned by the President immediately after his punishment, i fear Malik Riaz will be obliged for all his 'Services to the King' in the same manner.

This is a good sign that the courts are taking corruption seriously, especially in view of the latest corruption of passport scam concerning illegal trafficking to Britain. The scam and other illegal acts of the government and people of Pakistan are embarrassing for the overseas Pakistanis and are bringing the country in to disrepute.

Wow great job Mr Pakboy. You've already declared that our chief justice who is leading this whole anti-corruption campaign is corrupt himself. You must be a pipla or you wouldn't dare claiming such a rubbish without any proofs. You also think without any proofs that his son is corrupt too before the court makes its judgement. May Allah help this nation. Our nation is strange, we want nothing less than angels to do our audit/check-n-balance "ehtisab". If someone has done a minor mistake not even a crime, that person will not be acceptable to one party or the other. With this attitude we will keep going down to gutters of corruption forever.
