ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday made the voter lists public and available for correction, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad, Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim said the people wanted a change and that the ECP would do its best so that no objections could be raised over its role during the elections.

Ebrahim moreover said that no one would be able to vote without a computerised national identity card, adding that, the minimum voting age was 18 years.

He said the ECP had prepared the voter lists in a manner that no objections could be raised over them.

The CEC said that the public could now get information on voting simply by sending an SMS message.

Ebrahim said the ECP and Nadra’s use of latest technology in its operations was commendable, adding that, changes could still be made to voter lists.

He further said that 84360000 voters had been registered and that the ECP was working in collaboration with the Nadra for this purpose.

The CEC said that the lists were prepared comprehensively and after house-to-house visits.
