LAHORE, Aug 2: District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Thursday ordered an inquiry against a registered contractor of the City District Government of ore for using substandard bricks in the ongoing development works at Kaacha fruits and vegetables market.
During a surprise visit to the market, he found substandard bricks being used by the contractor in various construction works there. He ordered the Sadar assistant commissioner to get laboratory test of the bricks conducted and monitor the entire construction work in the market personally.
He also ordered issuing official memos to all ACs of the city district to personally visit under-construction sites in the city and report to him directly if they found usage of substandard construction material there.
He directed the contractor to use quality bricks in the construction work. “We will cancel your licence if you tried to use such bricks again,” the DCO said, directing the senior officials to take action against those government officials who were supposed to get these works accomplished under their supervision.
RAIWIND: The CDGL has demarcated land for launching various developmental works in Raiwind, including construction of a tehsil complex and cricket ground.
“As Raiwind carries international importance because of the congregation, it is need of the hour to declare it a tehsil,” DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said while speaking at a ceremony held here to inaugurate the new general bus stand at Raiwind.
He said he would soon impose Section 144 under which the bus operation would be completely banned at old bus stand at Raiwind. He said the new stand would not only facilitate travellers but also help reduce traffic load in the city.
STAFF: The Lahore Development Authority administration on Thursday provided the requisite staff to the newly bifurcated LDA’s Estate Management Wing.
According to the notification, the estate management wing-I will be headed by Director Muhammad Nauman Khan.
Other officers will include Khurram Yaqoob (deputy director), Abdul Razzaq (deputy director, law), Baber Javed Butt (senior estate officer), Mehmood Aslam, Wazir Khan Virk and Khalid Mirza (assistant directors) and Aqeel Akram and Waqas Noor (estate officers), a press release says.
The Estate Management Wing-II will be headed by Director Tanvir Bashir Warriach whereas Aslam Langha and Miss Habiba Aslam will assist him as deputy directors. Abdul Razzaq will hold the additional charge of the post of deputy director (law) while Husain Akif, Umair Saleem and Farrukh Aslam will work as assistant directors. Muhammad Khaliqur Rehman will perform his duty as estate officer of the wing, the release said. — Staff Reporter
