LAHORE, Aug 2: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday held separate meetings with the PPP and PML-Q MPAs at the Governor’s House and assured them provision of development funds for their constituencies.

The prime minister reportedly also assured the Q members that they would get funds equal to that of PPP MPAs. He said the PPP would contest next general elections along with the Q.

The premier held separate meetings with the PPP MPAs of Lahore, Multan, D G Khan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Faisalabad districts and listened to their problems.

A participant of the meeting told Dawn that the prime minister assured them provision of funds from the federal government and resolution of their problems. “The premier also asked them to start preparation for the next general elections,” he said.

Another participant said that the MPAs of Faisalabad district especially spoke about load shedding affecting the industry in their area. They said if this situation persisted it would not be easy for the party to win there.

Mr Ashraf reportedly said controlling the energy crisis was the top priority of his government and it would be able to handle it soon.

The Q members also spoke about the energy crisis and sought funds for their constituencies.
