Senator Faisal Raza Abidi on Sunday hurled allegation of prejudice against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and demanded resignations from him and other judges who were reinstated but had taken an oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO), DawnNews reported.

He said that his party would get rid of PCO judges and would present a bill in the parliament to reinstate the 110 judges who had been sacked earlier.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Abidi said that the chief justice should have resigned after his son, Arsalan Iftikhar, was alleged to have indulged in financial impropriety.

He alleged that Chief Justice Iftikhar had directed the Lahore High Court (LHC) to issue a stay order in a case pertaining to the 46 billion rupees of outstanding dues on different cellular companies.

Abidi said his party would “force him out the same way he had been restored as a judge.”

He said the PPP had always respected the courts, adding that, the party’s ministers had appeared before the courts and even a PPP prime minister had been sacrificed.

Abidi said “a judicial martial-law has been imposed in the country.”

The senator said his party was being targeted by the court while cases against PPP’s opponents had been granted stay orders.

The PPP senator requested the government to come forward and take steps to restore the parliament’s supremacy, adding that, the parliament had the authority of enacting and amending laws.

Abidi said the parliament was supreme and above other institutions. “Parliament is an institution which forms laws and constitutions. No one has the right to criticise its laws,” he said.

He said the courts should have taken action against dictators.

He alleged that Chief Justice House Islamabad had been misused for commercial purposes of Arsalan Iftikhar.

The senator showed bank account statements of Arsalan Iftikhar and raised questions about the legitimacy of his assets. He also showed that the billing address mentioned was that of the Chief Justice House in Islamabad.

Abidi said he would soon go to London to collect evidence against Arsalan Iftikhar and would call another press conference after doing so in 10 days.

COMMENTS

  1. Ifkihar Chaudry you sent one PM to home and now creating problems for the new PM and the Parliment. Enough is enough. You should resign immediately.

President Zardari should dismissed CJ and prosecute him for high treason

  2. Iftikhar Choudry, Please resign from CJ post immediately. Pakistan is facing so many challenges now days and can not offord to have another Zia

  3. I am 100% agreed with Abidi and solute his courage. CJ is absolutely wrong and currept and he has no respect to the mandate of people of Pakistan. CJ is a thankless person he must be thrown out of his office as soon as possible.

  4. I support Faisal Raza Abdi comments that why CJ is so lenient with the hard core terrorist/taliban. Why he asked government to pay compensation to the religious terrorists fought with Pak army and killed 11 commodos during Lal masjid operation? Despite so much bloodshed he is not panishing any terrorist rather he acquits them for one reason or an other to enforce their agenda? Why he is so selective about the speedy trials of some shosen cases? I agree, he has done a few good things also, but he needs to clarify the above concerns.

  5. I Hate PPP PMLn MQM and the all the others included, leaving out PTI as we have not tested them once. I also keep CJ in the same first list. Like any self respecting with hgh morals he should have stood aside when the case of his Zigg Zagg Son came out, it had been known for quite sometime how he had been moved around by his father earlier in his career.

  6. Fully agree with Faisal Abidi and @Syed Zafar…It's about this CJ be held accountable for all his misdeeds, violations of Constitution and rule of law, unlawful dismissal of elected PM , corruption of his son , etc, etc..At the least Choudhary Sabeb should resign immediately.

  7. Please Wake up.You are heading for a disaster with these politician on the loose.

  8. Congratulations Faisal for speaking the truth.

  9. What Abidi said is right. Anyone who speaks too much about corruption is himself corrupt. So is the case with Chief Justice.

  10. What Abidi said is right. Anyone who speaks too much about corruption is himself corrupt. So is the case with Chief Justice.

  11. Amazing, how people don't see wrong in wrong things….Wish Pakistan can get rid of all such politicians….

  12. Chief Justice should clear his name from all these against him, its not faisal raza abidi, every body is asking same question

    • You are wrong. Ignorant and irresponsible people who have blind faith on a single person do not ask for CJ's impeachment.

  13. Abidi is right in demanding resignation from the CJ and saying that a judicial martial law is imposed on the country. This is truth of the day, like it or not. I have not voted the CJ in to make laws for me, I have voted parliamentarians to do it and i don't want anyone, not least the CJ, rob me of this fundamental right.

  14. negative think mind always speaks wrongly. he contempted the honourable cout and his chief justice . abidi must be punished

  15. with such like senators and leaders the nation is facing the consequences of their wrongdoing.

  16. Abidi is Zulfiqar Mirza Part II. Zardari is a street smart politician, whereas the president of pakistan should be Statesman. He will have to face the music if he ever tried to attack the judiciary.

  17. His own party does not take him seriously let alone anyone else.

  18. Chief Justice is on the right path and he should explore the bad doings of all politicians Pakistan is proud to have people like Chief Justice Iftikhar Chauhdhary and Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan

  19. All comments do have weight! But don't one believe the Chief Justice himself is a corrupt and bias man? Mushraf was right in sacking him for his corruption. The people who are supporting him are not less corrupt or supporting him for their own motive. Never heard of judges corruption in western countries like we hear in Pakistan and I myself had an experience in Pakistan in my family case.

  20. Abidi we solute your courage. Now a days here in Pakistan judicial martial and no one has the courage to speak against judiciary due to contempt sword hold by sacred cows (judges).

  21. I have but to say that he is right. Since these parliamentarians are 'elected representatives' of people, so they are above 'law'. It gives them a license to do whatever they want, and say whatever pleases them. Law should be only for the people, the 'awam'. Maybe two versions of laws should be made, one for parliamentarians, since they are supreme and law should only favor them in their deeds; and one for the poor people.

  22. He needs to be tried for contempt case and jail for maximum period.

  23. CJ should call it a day. Should quit

  24. Yes, how come a PCO judge himself is throwing other PCO judges out of the bench under contempt law and keep thrashing NRO while managing to hold a high moral ground for himself?
