Two killed for honour

ATTOCK, Aug 5: A boy and a girl were killed at Jangla village of Pindgheb police station.

Police sources on Sunday claimed that a boy A.H., a resident of Talagang, had come to Jangla village to meet his friend F.N. on Saturday evening. As they were meeting, the girl’s three brothers and an uncle, who were aware of their relationship, reached the spot with axes and other weapons.

The armed men – S.K., M.A., M.K. and Z.K. – first attacked the boy with axes, and later shot him dead. After killing him, they dragged the girl to their house where they also killed her. The alleged killers then escaped from the scene.

On information, the local police reached the scene and shifted the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pindigheb. — Correspondent

Eight injured in clash

TAXILA, Aug 5: Eight people were injured, one critically, during a clash at Jallo in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Sunday.

Police sources said Mazhar Ali, Amjad Mehmood and Mohammad Zubair were having water in a mosque when Riasat Ali, Ashiq Mehmood and Khurrum Shahzad asked them not to drink and observe the sanctity of the holy month of Ramazan. This led to a quarrel between them, and both groups attacked each other with axe and rods.

Eight people – Shahzad Ali, Mazhar Ali, Amjad Mehmood, Mohammad Zubair, Riasat Ali, Ashiq Mehmood, Fazal Din and Khurrum Shahzad – were injured. They were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hassanabdal. Mazhar Ali was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi due to his critical condition. — Correspondent

Robbers strike

ATTOCK, Aug 5: Robbers stole a water pump worth Rs25,000 from the field of a local farmer in Kot Sundki village.

In another incident, Saleem Iqbal of Kari Moorat village reported to New Airport police station Fatehjang that he was heading to his village in a car when four persons stopped him and snatched Rs12,000 and a mobile phone. — Correspondent

Armyman injured

ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: An armyman was shot and injured by two motorbike riders in Shahzad Town area on Sunday, police said.

Naik Muhammad Bashir, posted at Nowshera Cantt, was travelling with his family when he was shot by the motorbike riders Sunday night.

The injured was immediately shifted to Pims and later shifted to Military Hospital Rawalpindi where he is stated to be stable.

Bashir was shot in the leg by the attackers, however, his wife and children remained safe. According to the police, it seemed to be a case of old enmity, however, the victim did not want to register a case. — Staff Reporter
