ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) sought on Tuesday a Supreme Court order to the interior ministry to put on the exit control list (ECL) the names of 14 accused in the ephedrine quota case, including former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Musa and former health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin.

In an application submitted before the court, the ANF submitted that grant of interim bails to the accused, including Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Musa Gilani, by the relevant courts was adversely affecting the investigations into the ephedrine scam.

Others whose names the ANF wants on the ECL are Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar, owner of Barlax International, Multan; Tahirul Wahood Lahoti, director, Danas Pharma; Ansar Farooq, ex-CEO, Danas Pharma; Rizwan Ahmed Khan, director, Danas Pharma; Dr Asad Hafeez, ex-DG, health; Sheikh Ansar Ahmed, Drug Controller, Ministry of Health; Abdul Sattar Sorani, Drug Controller; and Syed Anjum Hussain Shah.

The ANF requested the court to order the interior secretary to place their names on the ECL.

On Aug 6, the ANF regional director had informed the Supreme Court that he had requested the interior ministry eight months ago to place the names on the ECL.

The court had asked the official to submit a written statement about reluctance by the ministry to put the names on the list.
