DACCA: Prominent Muslim League leaders from East Pakistan and West Pakistan met this evening at the residence of Maulana Akram Khan, Vice-President of the League, and held informal discussions as to what line should be taken to revive, re-organise and revitalise the Muslim League.

The Joint Secretary of the Muslim League, Mr Manzar-i-Alam, disclosing this … after the meeting said “We are in the midst of big brothers and we are trying to rediscover ourselves”.

Replying to a question, Mr Manzar-i-Alam said “we are assessing the political climate in East Pakistan” and it might take a few days to come to any conclusion. He refrained from making any firm commitment until the feelings of the people, especially the League workers and leaders of East Pakistan, could be ascertained.

He said he was trying to ascertain the feelings of the nation, and while doing so the consensus of opinion of East Pakistanis who had firm faith in the ideology for which the Muslim League stood, would be considered.

He said in East Pakistan the League leaders might take sufficient time as they took in West Pakistan before coming to certain decisions. The leaders, he said, would continue further parleys during the next few days as they had this evening, till they came to certain concrete conclusion.

He, however, said that they were making “marvellous progress” at every meeting of the Muslim League leaders of East and West Pakistan.

Asked to comment on Ebdoed Muslim Leaguers who were debarred from joining the party Mr Alam said “I do not want to be dragged into any kind of controversy. I am interested in organisation first, then will talk of our demands.”—Agencies
