KARACHI, Aug 8: Tapal CC, inspired by a fine opening century partnership between Zeeshan Jamil and Mohammad Javed, qualified for the quarter-finals of the 27th Karachi Gymkhana PTV Ramazan Cricket Festival with an eight-wicket defeat of Southend Club at the KG Ground on Wednesday.

Zeeshan (62 off 53 balls, five fours and two sixes) and Javed (49 off 35 balls, six fours and one six) put on 116 before Tapal CC, who eventually finished as the runners-up in Group ‘B’ won the match by making 130-2 in the 16th over.

Earlier, Southend Club collected 127-5 in their 20 overs with opener Sarfraz Khan (36 off 27, three fours and two sixes) and Raheel Malik (30 off 31) the main run-getters.
