KARACHI, Aug 10: Like elsewhere around the globe, the Hindu community in the city on Friday celebrated their annual religious festival of Janmashtami to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.

On the occasion, special gatherings were organised in temples where religious leaders in their sermons highlighted Lord Krishna’s teachings based on love and peace and urged the audience to follow his teachings.

Also, bhajans, religious songs, were sung and prayers were offered for the prosperity of the community and the country’s solidarity and integrity. The meetings concluded with the distribution of langar, free food, among the devotees.
