Robber killed

RAWALPINDI, Aug 11: A dacoit was killed while another arrested in an alleged police encounter in Kotha Kallan of Morgah police area on Saturday.

However, three of their colleagues managed to escape from the scene while taking advantage of darkness. Police also recovered a loaded Kalashnikov and 30 bore pistol from the dacoit who is under custody.

According to police spokesman Inspector Raja Fayyaz, Central Investigating Agency (CIA) received information that a total of 5 dacoits were sitting near the resident of Chaudhry Tariq at Kotha Kallan and planning to commit robbery.

Taking action, CIA conducted a raid at 2:30am to capture the dacoits. But, the armed robbers opened fire on the police and as a result of retaliation, a dacoit received serious injuries while the other was arrested. — A Reporter

Police teams attacked

GUJAR KHAN, Aug 11: Two police parties were attacked in separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Gujar Khan and Jatli plice stations on Friday night, Dawn has learnt.

SI Saeed Akbar Kiani and a couple of other policemen were returning from Jabbar town in a private car when they were intercepted by armed men who had blocked Jabbar-Gujar Khan road by placing trunk. The brigands on seeing the policemen opened fire. The policemen, who were holding only one pistol, retaliated and could hardly save their lives.

On the other hand a raiding party of Jatli police station, headed by SI Aziz Bhatti, raided a house and reportedly arrested Nazakat Hussain, a proclaimed offender. According to the police three relatives of Nazakat foiled the police bid to arrest the PO and resorted to firing. — Correspondent
