Medal rankings are done by number of gold medals won. If their is a tie in gold medals then silver and bronze medals are considered. So Great Britain is ranked third above Russia as it won more gold medals.

Nobody can try to think about the lines of written editorial. We did not agree to win a single medal in London Olympic. What we saw in the London Olympic due to our players, its all the responsibility goes to Pakistan sports board and their officials. They finally decided the plan that they go to the Olympic only for visit and purchaising the gifts and they did it very well.
We Pakistani gave the answer which was media asked, Media showed the many more reports on its television screen, Media asked the common Pakistanies at the road-side, " shall Pakistani players win a single medal in London Olympic?" Every-body gave the answer, NO.
Sports authorities do not feel shame, they show their interest are only spending the huge money which is funding by the government and NGO's for the benefit of sports/games in Pakistan. We do not blame our players, they are holy-cow, they have not any sophisticated facilities like others countries. If we will all agree to win a single medal in upcoming Olympic which will be starting after 4 years in Brazil, than we start the preparation now.

Kamal, you're wrong here, Britain was 3rd with 29 Gold's compared to Russia's 24, medal tables are ordered by Golds first.

pakistan is the country with immense talent and their is no point for causing the athletes for such a dismal display.. they simply lacked professionalism and perhaps a good coaching staff would have produced the different results!!

State of play in Pakistan is better than any other country, int only requires some favour and attention from higher authorities.

Almost every state in India had announced huge prize amount for medal winners and even to those who could enter quarter finals. India did badly still with only six medals but Indians still tried very hard against the world's very best in many games.. With some private sponsorship coming India should do better in future. But the base for all this came from Govt. of India which created excellent facilities and paid for all expenses of sports persons during training. Pakistan can follow similar model.

Unless the mindset in Pakistan is not changed, Pakistan cannot progress. Treat all its citizens as 'Pakistani' first and select in any games on their ability and merits and not on their faith and religion. Hots off to India in this regard.!!!
