KARAK, Aug 17: Social and political figures of Karak city have complained that illegal connection holders are getting smooth water supply while those who are paying monthly bills are deprived of the commodity. They alleged the tehsil municipal administration Karak had struck an underhand deal with such connection holders.

The social and political figures informed Dawn on Friday that the TMA Karak officials were involved in the supply of drinking water to those households who had gotten illegal connections from main water supply line and those who had been paying monthly bills were deprived of it.

They said though pipelines had been laid for supply of water in the streets of Karak city but the municipal administration had yet to supply water to the residents.

They said the water supplied from the Zebi dam was not fit for consumption as it gave foul smell. They demanded that the quality of water from Zebi dam should be tested.

The social workers also criticised the performance of the TMA Karak and added there was no sewerage system in the city as stagnant water in Karak city was creating different diseases. They maintained that there was no cleanliness system in the city and the drains remained full of filth causing hardships to residents. They demanded that these problems should be resolved on priority basis otherwise the residents of Karak city would take to streets.

EID GIFTS DISTRIBUTED: District Police Officer Sajjad Khan on Friday distributed Eid gifts among the families and children of the policemen who laid down their lives during war on terror.

Addressing a ceremony to this effect, the DPO said police had offered exemplary sacrifices while securing the countrymen. He added the blood of the deceased personnel would not go waste. He further added the children of the fallen soldiers would continue to receive help from the government.
