LAHORE, Aug 18: DIG (Investigation) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmad has suspended Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff Inspector Ghulam Abbas on the charge of implicating a citizen in a car theft case at the behest of his opponents.

According to a handout issued in Saturday, Inspector Ghulam Abbas had illegally arrested Ejaz of Sialkot in a car theft case registered with Chuhng police station and sent him to judicial lock-up in connivance with his opponents.

Ejaz’s relative Shahid Mehmood brought the matter into the notice of the DIG investigation who after verifying facts suspended Inspector Ghulam and also issued him show-cause notice.

CRIMINALS: Green Town police claim to have arrested four members of a gang and seized from them cash, seven cell phones, four pistols, and 22 rounds. A police team constituted by Sadar SP (Operations) Liaquat Ali Malik took ringleader Khawar alias Khawri and his three accomplices Jehangir, Nazim Ali and Shahzad into custody.

The suspects confessed to looting cash and cell phones in several incidents.
