RAWALPINDI, Aug 19: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf’s security team on Sunday visited his private residence Sanghar House at Mori Rajhan village of Gujar Khan, in the backdrop of Kamra attacks.

Law enforcement agencies have been directed to further strengthen security arrangements for the prime minister’s expected visit to his hometown on the second day of Eidul Fitr, Dawn has learnt.

Prime Minister’s security team, comprised of deputy military secretary and director security on Sunday visited Sanghar House and reviewed the security arrangements in the light of Kamra attacks and intelligence reports regarding terror threats.

In the light of reports that a large number of people are expected to see the prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf during his first visit to his private residence, since he assumed the charge of Premiership; tight security arrangements are being put in place according to the “Blue Book”.

As  part of the reviewed security, neither any visitor will be allowed to sit — as all of them would remain in standing — nor any mobile phone, water bottles or juices will be allowed during the prime minister’s visit.

Senior police officials from Rawalpindi were also accompanying the prime minister’s security team during their visit to Sanghar House on Sunday.

Besides security issues, the parking of vehicles was another major topic during the meeting.

Special Branch officials will conduct combing of the green and hilly areas around Sanghar house before giving security clearance for PM’s visit.

Fearing any untoward incident during VVIP movement, the security agencies had already warned the police to keep vigilance on a large number of fugitives and track down the movements of other dangerous individuals who might visit their families residing in the limits of Gujar Khan, during Eid holidays.

Sanghar House is located on 18 kanals of land, adjacent to Imran Ashraf’s house — nearly 40 kilometres from Rawalpindi. It needs 360 security points, if a VVIP movement takes place by road from Rawalpindi.

Two helipads have already been built at the premises of Sanghar House for his visit.

According to sources, the Prime Minister will take a helicopter, if he doesn’t travel by road. “In both cases, the deployment of security personnel will take place, either he takes a helicopter or plans to go by road,” a security official said adding that the security will be provided according to the Blue Book.

A part of the prime minister’s private residence is located in the limit of Jatli police, while the remaining portion is located in the limit of Sohawa police.

However, his brother Imran Ashraf’s house is located adjacent to his house is located in the limits of Taman police station Chakwal Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras around Sanghar House and security posts with sharp shooters will be deployed to ensure foolproof security.

On the other side, the local police have sought 200 Punjab Constabulary personnel to assist more than 3,000 police personnel to be deployed in the city, during Chand Raat (night before Eid) and Eid day.

Besides, the regular police, Elite Force commandos, women police and special branch officials will be deployed for security on Chand Raat and Eid day.

Police will be deployed at 302 mosques, 10 open places and 16 Imambargahs where Eid prayers will be held in Potohar Division.

In addition to it, extra security will be deployed at worship places of various sects.Furthermore, police personnel will be deployed at 22 graveyards located in Potohar division. While separate traffic plan has been chalked out to keep the smooth flow of traffic during Eid prayer.
